Kyle Busch: Wild Thing

When Kyle Busch broke his right leg and left foot in February, many wondered if he would even race this season. He wondered if he could race again. He returned to racing in late May, which was a surprise to many. If that was surprising, just wait till you here what happened next.

He broke his leg again! Not really. He was slow to start, but then the Cup Series rolled into Sonoma. And he did the unbelievable. He won the race. One of Nascar’s hardest and probably most painful tracks, and he won. Wow. Now all that he had to do was reach the top thirty in points, and he, who had missed 11 races, could make the Chase.

He earned the nickname “Wild Thing” because of his unpredictable temper and rather amazing abilities on track. Well, he just proved the amazing on track abilities again. A couple of weeks later, the Cup Series rolled into Kentucky. And Busch won again. And then the Series went to New Hampshire. Guess who won that race. Kyle Busch.

Then came the Brickyard 400. Every driver wants to win at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. And Kyle was also looking to become th first driver to win three races in a row since Jimmie Johnson in 2007. Well, he accomplished his mission. He won at the Brickyard.

Then came Pocono. Busch was behind Joey Logano as the laps wound down, when suddenly Joey ran out of fuel. Could Busch win a fourth race in a row? Well, unfortunately he too ran dry, and on the final lap. However, the very next week he was second at Watkins Glen, no surprise there. And he is now in the top thirty in points. And due to the current Chase format, he is second in the rankings.

Now Busch just has to make it through the final four races of the regular season, and not lose his points position. No sweat there. In February, people wondered if he would even race this year, and now, people are beginning to think Kyle could be a possible champion. Wouldn’t that be something? I hope that happens. After all, Kyle would have more than earned it.
