Kyle Busch Uptate

Two months ago, racing at Daytona, Kyle Busch wrecked and broke his right leg and left foot. He has gone through many stages of recovery since that day, and yesterday he addressed the media. That brings up some interesting memories.

Busch talked about the wreck and his recovery, and he said he’ll be back. The question is when? There is no time-table for his return to the track. Busch said that when he returns he would like to be Chase eligible, but can he be cleared for racing in time to have a chance to make the Chase? It’s unlikely. In his case he would have to be in the top 30 in points and have a win to get in the Chase. And with the lack of a return date, he may not have enough races to get the points to be in the top 30.

And can he win? The last driver to suffer an injury like this, Tony Stewart, was slow to recover. In fact, Tony hasn’t won since his injury, two years ago! And Busch broke bones in two different places, not one like Stewart. However, Kyle has before done what people consider impossible. They don’t call him “Wild Thing” for nothing. However, until he returns, we will not know whether or not he will be his old, winning, Chase making self. But, if anyone can bounce back from something this bad, it’s “Wild Thing”.
