As of now the Chase For the Sprint Cup is still in the making, but, there are already two drivers almost guaranteed a spot, and one driver who just has to stay in the top thirty in points. Jimmie Johnson and Joey Logano are both virtually locked in the Chase grid thanks to their wins, but there are still ways they could miss the Chase. Kevin Harvick already has two wins, so mathematically speaking all he has to do is stay in the top thirty in points.
Aside from these three no one else has won a race yet. But there are some drivers who seem very likely to be on their way to wins. Dale Earnhardt Jr., Ryan Newman, and Martin Truex Jr. are all drivers who seem like a win is very realistic in the near future. And all three of them are hungry for victory lane.
Two drivers have missed races this season, but look strong. Both Kurt Busch and Brian Vickers have missed multiple races this year, but they are still eligble for the Chase. And they both have showed speed over the past two weeks. Two other drivers on the possibility list are David Ragan and Danica Patrick. Both have showed signs of speed this year, and should either win they would most likley be able to claim a Chase berth.
Two high profile driver who have started off the season slowly are Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart. Both of them have had strength this season, but they have had some rotten luck. Gordon was was wrecked both of the first two races of the year, and Stewart was wrecked in two of this seasons races, and he also suffered some mechanical problems in two other races. Both have shown signs of rebounding though, so the front runners should keep looking over there shoulders. After all, Tony and Jeff have forty years of experience between the two of them.
All this said, we have a long season ahead of us, with several drivers ready to try and make their way to victory lane.
